Site was visited following reports of Rainbow trout caught in the River Tay on 15th January 2026 by a third party. The visit was scheduled to inspect containment measures at the site and to establish if any breaches in containment had occurred.
Mortality on the site has been consistently low since the last inspection. Furunculosis was detected by PCR back in July 25 following an increase in mortalities on the site (below reporting threshold). Following discussion with the company vet, a course of antibiotics was decided against by the company health manager in this instance as the mortalities were self-limited and reduced back to expected levels over a few weeks. Younger fish on site were vaccinated for Furunculosis and ERM.
Once crop are on site, they remain on site until harvest. Deadhaul harvests are conducted to Loch Duarts processing facility.
No live movements of fish off the site.
Tricaine is the only medicine that has been used on site since the last inspection for welfare assessments and sample weights.
Last use was recorded in September 25 for a grade.
Fish on site appeared in good physical condition and were actively shoaling in the cages. No moribunds or mortalities were observed during the inspection. The fish removed for VMD sampling was in good condition with a good layer of fat surrounding the PC and food was present in the gut. [Original PDF]
