Now operating with reduced water abstraction on SEPA licence.
Florocol in Jun2020, suspected RTFS in 2 batches
Site visited annually from FVG, delayed during covid - but due next month. Histology samples were taken on newest input prior to transfer - no significant results, fish transported to farm. Pre transfer health checks always conducted.
Automatic leaf clearer on intake screen operated continuously at this time of year. Pond/raceway screens are cleared regularly as required, through the night also.

Farm on recirculation during hot weather as water is low in river - 6 days in June, 15 days in July and 11 days in August. Half of ponds and back channels. Aerators in ponds too. Water quality checked regularly. Temperature currently 18c.
Fish due on in July from York but cancelled due to hot weather, hopefully will be rescheduled for end of this month.
Some customers have also had to postpone due to hot weather and lack of water in the fisheries.
Detailed mortality data collection not part of the inspection however mortalities were low over winter, slight increase in mortalities in the ponds at the end of the recirc in recent weeks - up to 5 per pond - still low overall - 0.5%/pond.
Waste is incinerated on site.

Fish all come on from Costa Springs. Furunculosis was observed in the brown trout in December 2022 and was treated with
Florocol and Formalin with good results and low mortality. No disease challenges have been noted in the last month.
Site is fed from a lade off the River Ericht which flows through the site. A screen was in place at the main inlet and was fitted with an automatic arm to keep the screen free from leaf litter and debris. Screens were also fitted between the ponds and at each outlet and are cleared of leaf litter and debris daily to maintain flow through the site.
Site treats fish prophylactically with formalin and florocol to prevent outbreaks of Furunculosis and site manager reported that this approach works well for the site.
Site experiences very low mortalities across all species, with mostly single figures removed from ponds on a daily basis. Otters accessing the site is attributed as the primary cause for mortality. Wildlife cameras have been installed in an attempt to trace where the otters are gaining access to the site through the perimeter fence. This has been successful and access points have been cemented to prevent further access. Site manager explained that any unusual increase in mortality (anything above
20/pond/day) would be further investigated. FVG would be contacted in the first instance to collect samples for analysis.
Tricaine has been used on the site previously but was not recorded in the treatment record. This was raised with the site manager and the requirement to record its use explained. Site manager agreed to record the use of Tricaine going forward,
NFA.
Tiger trout were also stocked on site without authorisation. Authorisation amendment application and revised BMP requested from business retrospectively.
Rainbow trout on site are growing rapidly and feeding in low temperatures. Fin damage was observed in the rainbows on site, but otherwise appeared in good physical health and were active in the ponds. The brown and tiger trout on site also appeared in good physical health and fins were noted to be in good condition.
<5 mortalities were observed across the site and no moribunds were noted in any of the ponds. 1 fish was observed swimming on its side and was removed for external and internal examination. No significant findings.
Fish sampled for VMD appeared healthy externally and internally upon examination. Fins were in good condition and food was present in the gut.
Site inspection, paperwork and sampling completed by under the supervision of for internal audit. [Original PDF]
