Site takes on several inputs over the course of the year, generally from one supplier but occasionally more. Movements off the site are to fisheries for put and take. Site stocks a mix of rainbows and browns which are mixed in the ponds. Golden rainbows and blues were also observed on site. As these are mixed, the site manager was unsure of individual counts for each species and provided a total count for each pond.
Redmouth syndrome is present on site but not causing significant mortality and is managed using medicated feed prior to winter months. Mortalities on the site are very low (generally <10 across the site per week). Mortalities are removed from the screens and are stored in sealed bins at pondside until they are transferred into domestic waste for disposal (at least once per week). Main cause of mortality has been attributed to poor performers/runts.
Fish on site appeared in excellent physical health and were active in the ponds. 1 or 2 runts were observed across the site but no other clinical signs of disease were observed so no samples were taken on this occasion.
Screens are in place at the inlet and outlet of the site and of each pond. Site invested in a leaf clearer in recent years to remove leaf debris during autumn months and is reported to be effective at maintaining water flow through the site. [Original PDF]
