No issues reported or observed on site. No predation or water quality problems as all tanks are covered. AGD is present but is managed using freshwater baths. Morts are removed when observed and disposed of by incineration on site. May develop an
R&D area within the site to increase income and scientific knowledge on cleanerfish aquaculture. Some gill issues in WRA at early stages as they have a tendency to crowd and some physical damage can occur. Ensuring soft lighting and adequate hide material within holding tanks helps to alleviate the behaviour.
Medicated feed is mixed in a separate facility and stored separately from other feeds. Adequate records and samples are maintained and staff have sufficient experience and training to undertake the mixing. No feed is mixed for other facilities.
SOP,and HACCP developed and submitted 12/10/20. Cleaning and calibration records also developed. [Original PDF]

Recent mortalities:
Wrasse
1-28 October - no mortality
Halibut
September - 4,693 (10.53%) - upon investigation, this was found to be a data entry issue. The technician had recorded shortfalls in numbers (weaning halibut are hand counted into tanks from first feeding - these numbers are not unusual).
Instead of accepting the number difference he has recorded this as a mortality. Mortality now corrected to 667 fish instead of
4,693.
1-28 October - 924 (2.35)
Lumpsucker
1-28 October - 320 (0.24%)
Other peaks in mortality
Halibut
December 2020 (13.58%, 17g) - fish blind due to eye deformities.
15 March 2021 - transferred 11,629 fish and suffered a loss of 2,300. This loss is recorded by South Drumachro FS0335
(Gigha Halibut).
The cause was over loading, there was very little mortality prior to transfer and it was concluded that the fish sat at the base of the tanks and became overcrowded. Subsequent loads were reduced in quantity and had no issues.
Wrasse
February 2019 (12.97%, 15.2g) - atypical furunculosis, fish treated with antibiotic
Site inspection conducted by and observed by on 03/11/2021.
Fish populations appeared healthy with no clinical signs of disease. Background mortalities observed in some tanks. [Original PDF]

Site is planning to export 30,000 halibut to Canada in end Nov/beginning Dec. Tests required by competent authority in
Canada is 175 fish test for IPN and VHS and also 175 for IPN only (nested). As a result, a certification inspection was conducted on 31/10 and 01/11 where 350 fish were sampled (14 tanks were tested as this was the population that will potentially be exported).
All fish sampled were observed to be healthy prior to being sampled. For the 175 fish being tested for IPN and VHS, kidney and spleen of individual fish were sampled and placed into RNA tubes. The remaining 175 being tested for IPN only kidney, spleen and brain were sampled.
Sampling was conducted on 31/10/2023 and 01/11/2023 by and . [Original PDF]

Halibut and wrasse on site - various life stages: broodstock, ova, fry.
Handling is usually cause of mortality.
No waste transfer records available because since the ensiler has come onto site no collection of waste has been made as mortalities have been so low.
Mortality records:
Halibut Broodstock - Dec 2023, 0,0%; Jan 2024, 0,0%; Feb 2024, 0,0%; March 2024, stock adjustment occurred (14.80% recorded but cumulative mortality from july 2023 to March 2024).

Checking for Trichodina sp. usually occurs every Autumn and Spring. Formalin and halamid are used to disinfect tanks once empty. Site also has access to pyceze if required. No treatments have been conducted on site for either wrasse or halibut since last inspection.
Fish inspected on site were observed to be healthy and in great condition. Fish removed for VMD sampling were observed to have no issues and healthy. [Original PDF]

Halibut ready to move at the time of the inspection to Norway and potentially Canada. Waiting on more info from the buyer.
WRS broodstock had blood tests for atypical furunculosis. All negative.
Staff feeding unpasteurized meal worms to salmon.
Freshwater is available to be used to treat sea lice if required. Sea lice never observed on fish in the tanks. Accurate lice counts can reportedly be conducted without removing salmon from tanks due to the clarity of the water and shallow depth.
Sea water is filtered down to 5 microns and then UV filtered before entering into the site. The water intake is in Loch Fyne.
The salmon on site are currently held in freshwater, so no lice count is required. [Original PDF]
