Fish came on from Barcaldine Smolt Unit and originated from Stofnfiskur.
Mortalities started increasing in wk33 and have remained above 1% across the site since. Samples taken by Pharmaq in
September 21 confirmed the presence of AGD, HSMI and SGPV.
Site has been destocking through harvesting. Worst affected cages have been targeted first. Harvest ongoing and site will likely be fallow by the end of the year.
Weekly lice counts have remained relatively low since input, although the site has been treated to prevent lice counts increasing. Site received thermolicer treatments in wk17, wk25, wk26 and wk28 and a hydrolicer treatment in wk30. Alphamax bath treatments were done in wk29 and wk32, but the site manager has reported that the addition of cleanerfish has significantly helped reduce and keep lice numbers low.
Combined cleanerfish mortality since input (July 21) is at 2%. Cleanerfish observed during site inspection appeared healthy - no cleanerfish moribunds or mortalities were observed across the site.
The majority of the fish on site appeared in good health and were active. 3 mortalities and 8 moribunds were observed across the site, 5 moribund fish were removed for diagnostic samples.
A boat was due to arrive on site later this evening to harvest a further cage. Site is doing live haul harvests to South Shian processing plant.
Gill swabs are being taken every 2 weeks and plankton sampling is also being conducted. Very little plankton has been observed in the water column and dissolved oxygen at the site remains steady around 9mg/L.
Fish sampled for VMD appeared healthy and demonstrated a strong feed response. [Original PDF]

Upon physical examination of the stock, fish were observed shoaling well and responding positively to routine feeding regimes, no clinical signs of disease were observed during the inspection. Internally, fish sampled for VMD from pen 5 appeared
There is some mild AGD on site currently, the site plans to grade the stock towards the end of April and have scheduled a freshwater treatment.
Slice treatment scheduled for 16/17th April.

Input of fish transferred form Barcaldine Smolt Unit - Aquagen stock (Wk26 2025)
Last FW treatment about 1 month ago. Peroxide treatment planned to help with PGD onsite which is increasing.
Ballan wrasse mortality : 20/10/2025 - 92, 0.68%; 13/10/2025 - 35, 0.26%; 06/10/2025 - 47, 0.34%, 29/10/2024 - 34, 0.25%
Last slice treatment ended 24/09/2025, last FW treatment ended 22/09/2025
Site inspection conducted on 04/11/2025. Very few moribund/lethargic fish seen (1-2 in each pen). A few very dead/decomposing fish were observed in each pen which was a result of the removal of mortalities by divers and swell occurring in the couple days leading up to the inspection. On inspection of the fish removed, it was clear that these mortalities had been dead a long time due to the state of decomposition. One fish was removed for VMD sampling - this fish was found to be in good health with no lice observed.
RA inspected regarding movements off to Dunstaffnage from Bloody Bay in 2023, due to Muggiaea sp. bloom posing a risk to health and welfare. Transfer occurred on 01/09/2023 and return of these fish back to Bloody Bay occurred on 01/12/2023.
The movement book inspected only had movements from 04/12/2025 onwards. The last inspection was conducted in April
2023 and movements should have been recorded for this - new site manager is unsure as to where this older movement book.
This has been raised via 'issues raised' to allow for 30 days for the older movement book to be located.
On two occasions (29/07/2025 and 05/08/2025) a seal was discovered in pen 2. No notification of this has been provided to
FHI as an event that may have given rise to an increased risk of an escape. In both occasions, the seal climbed over the hand rail into the pen; exited the pen by lowering the handrail net.
Update 05/06/2025: Evidence relating to the escape notification issue raised was provided on 19/12/2025. Escape notifications were provided provided for the following incidents: 29/07/2025 and 05/08/2025 and 23/08/2025, which was an event not mentioned at the time of the site inspection. A warning letter was sent on 29/12/2025 after no records were received relating to movements by 29/12/2025. The warning letter requested records to be provided by 12/02/2026. Movement records from Nov
2022 to July 2025 were provided on 04/02 and 06/02/2026 following locating the movement book in storage. Amended records, following request for clarifcation of records recieved on 04/02/2026,were provided on 06/02/2026 to clarify transfer values for each species moved onto Dunstaffnage for the period of 04/09/2023 to 07/09/2023. All evidence provided was deemed satisfactory to close the case and issue a completion report. [Original PDF]
