Visibility of the stocks was poor due to dark peaty water, no clinical signs of disease was observed during the inspection of the site.
Morts stored in IBCs at the shore base as whole fish waste, no waste collections have taken place yet as mortality on the site has been very low since input, therefore no records were available for inspection. A waste collection contract is in place with
Fergusons, who will collect the waste from the shorebase when required.
The site was last stocked prior to this production cycle in 2015, records prior to this current production cycle had not been retained therefore the inspection of records for this inspection was conducted between the date of input (31/05/2025 -
28/01/2026.
No health surveillance has taken place yet at the site during this production cycle.
Fish due to be transferred to sea at the start of march, the current plan is to stock Soay (FS0646)
Evidence of damage to the nets around the water line area was observed, small holes have been created by otters in an attempt to predate on the stocks. The site check the nets daily and have repaired all holes immediately upon discovery. The otters seem to be targeting the corners of the nets so the site have installed some chicken wire steel mesh around the water line area on the corner of the nets as an additional mitigation measure. No holes were observed below the water line and no fish are suspected to have escaped. [Original PDF]
