The site was authorised in May 2025 and is currently stocking its second batch of eggs. The first batch encountered a water quality insult around week 28, with water samples showing pH > 7 and elevated Total Ammonia Nitrogen (TAN) concentrations. As the unit was newly built, it was suspected that contaminants from construction materials were leaching into the system. High water temperatures during the summer and the system’s low water volume limited the ability to flush it without causing significant temperature increases. To address this, a buffer tank was installed to increase water volume within the system. TAN concentrations lowered from a peak of 8 mg/L to 0.37 mg/L after installation. The fry were transferred to
FS1371 on 28/08/2025 and are being monitored for developmental issues, though they currently appear to be growing well.
The current batch of eggs were beginning to hatch with approximately 1-5 dead eggs observed per tray inspected.
Surveillance frequency movements on/off calculated as predicted for a year but this may change. [Original PDF]
